About Me
Hello!
My name is Brianna Hoisington. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in pediatrics Primarily. I worked as an RN in a pediatric ICU for the first 5 years of my nursing career. After achieving my Nurse Practitioner degree I started work in a busy pediatric primary care clinic for the underserved patient population, where I have been for 5 years now. I see children ages Newborn-21 currently. My appointments range from wellness visits of all ages, to urgent care sick visits.
While my professional journey in the medical field has kept me busy, my personal journey has kept me equally if not more busy. I am a mom of 3 amazing children. My oldest son is 9, my daughter is 6, and my youngest son is bringing up the rear with the baby title at age 2. I couldn't do life with out my husband who is a true partner. We are busy on the soccer fields, basketball courts, and gymnastics centers with our weekends full of events and life with three kids.
I have found my favorite part of my career is when my profession meets my life. Educating on various pediatric topics to friends and family who may have questions to the patients in my clinics is at the top of the list of my favorite part of my job. I answer phone calls at 2 AM for friends and family, and spend as much time as possible with parents of patients educating in words that are easy to understand. Being a mom while being a NP has made my life experiences meet my professional experiences. If I can provide easy explanations or put just one mama's mind at ease then that is success! Which is exactly why I have created this educational blog page. Not to mention I am still learning every day as a Mom and NP, and am here to share those experiences as well. We are in this together.

Topics
Infant-Toddler
From newborn to the crazy toddler years. A lot goes into these years from wellness to first illness (and lets be honest, constant toddler illness). A little Profession meets Life with topic education mixed with personal life and experiences.
School Aged Children
Starting school years up through middle school brings a whole new set of health questions, challenges and changes. I am currently going through these years for the first time with you! You would be surprised about some of the most often brought up health topics for this age group! Come find out!
Teenagers
Also known as some of the scariest years for parents, but also some of the best as our babies become young adults. Maybe we can make these years a little less scary when we put the profession into the life experiences. From Mood swings, to common teenage health concerns, to the dreaded "Sex talk" and birth control. As a mom I'm still trying to prepare myself for these years ahead. As an NP these are some of my favorite visits in clinic!
